Three Sculptures Hanging in a Cage |

“Presenting a series of small-scale,
industrial metal sculptures, Malikov investigates the fundamental and ubiquitous traits of mankind.” The sculptures I presented at Lab Sessions deal with dreams, love, death and war. They are metaphors of real world objects welded together into small statuettes, just like notions of those objects fused together into dense concepts. The technology of production and emotion of the subject matter made them fit into the Lab Sessions 1.0 idea — emotion through technology. I came across a small problem of presenting
these relatively small pieces. One solution was to put them
on top of small pillars with individual lights. But I
expected Lab Sessions to be a success (and it was) and
didn't want the sculptures to be knocked down by The event was organized by John Loerchner and Laura Mendes — true artists in craft and life. It was the most enjoyable art party and I met a lot of extremely interesting people. |
